One Dead and Over 50 Injured in Grand Canyon West Accident
Authorities reported that a devastating accident occurred at Grand Canyon West, located in northwestern Arizona on the Hualapai Reservation. A bus rolled over, resulting in one person losing their life, and more than 50 others sustaining injuries. The incident happened around 9:50 a.m. local time on Tuesday morning.
Emergency Response Efforts
A total of 57 individuals were involved in the incident. Eight of the injured were airlifted to nearby hospitals by five medical flight agencies, while others with noncritical injuries were transported to hospitals by car. As of now, the identities of the victims have not been released.
Investigation and Details
The authorities, including the Hualapai Nation Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, are actively investigating the cause of the rollover. The accident appears to have occurred due to a collision between a private tour operator and a visitor’s personal car near a parking lot.
History of Incidents
Unfortunately, this is not the first bus rollover incident at Grand Canyon West. A similar tragedy occurred in January 2021, resulting in one fatality and over 40 injuries. The investigation is still ongoing, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
