Ukrainian authorities have raised alarm as explosions were reported in Kyiv, the capital, and the eastern city of Kharkiv. The country is now on high alert in response to new missile strikes from Russia.
Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed the presence of explosions in the western Solomiansky district of the city. According to him, fragments of a rocket landed in a parking lot, and emergency services have been dispatched to the area.
Mayor Igor Terekhov of Kharkiv also reported hearing explosions in the city. Meanwhile, authorities in Kyiv have activated air defense systems to counter the missile threat.
Additionally, the Ukrainian air force has detected missiles heading towards the northern regions of Sumy and Poltava, as well as the central city of Dnipro. This further heightens tensions in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
