Foreign Minister Dr. Momen revealed that Bangladesh has received an invitation from the BRICS bank as a guest, with the likelihood of becoming a member. The discussion took place during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s meeting with South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaposha in Geneva. BRICS conference is set to occur in South Africa this August.
BRICS consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, and there are plans to expand the membership to include eight more countries, including Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is currently in Switzerland, participating in the World of Work Summit 2023 in Geneva.
