Alongside the DIY options, Google will also offer in-store and mail-in repair services for the Pixel Fold. The iFixit partnership will include genuine spare parts for various components such as batteries, screens, charging assemblies, and necessary adhesives. Step-by-step guides will be provided to facilitate easier DIY repairs for the battery, screen, charging port, and even the inner folding display.

The availability of repair parts for the Pixel Fold is a significant step by Google, although concerns remain regarding the practicality of repairing a foldable display. Recent reports have highlighted issues with the folding display, with some reviewers experiencing device malfunction after only a few days of use.

Google confirmed the news, stating, “We provide mail-in and walk-in repair services for Pixel Fold devices outside the warranty period. Additionally, we are planning to make parts, repair guides, and tools available through iFixit. Specifically for the Pixel Fold, we offer an Extended Warranty (Preferred Care) that covers accidental damages and mechanical breakdowns after the standard warranty expires. Customers can choose between a monthly plan or a one-time payment, ensuring their Pixel Fold can be repaired or replaced with a deductible.”

The availability of official repair parts for the Pixel Fold offers users more options when it comes to device maintenance and repair, giving them the opportunity to fix common issues themselves.
