In recent months, Xbox Game Pass has been lacking in terms of significant additions to its gaming library. However, all that may change on June 11.
Xbox Game Pass, known for offering over 100 video games at a highly reasonable monthly fee, has consistently been recognized as an excellent gaming deal for the past six years. While its value has been consistent, there have been fluctuations over time, with the recent months being a clear example of this trend.
Despite a few notable game releases on Xbox Game Pass in 2023, such as beloved classics like Persona and Age of Empires 2, as well as day-one third-party releases like Atomic Heart and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the frequency of these releases has been lacking. Unfortunately, the majority of Xbox Game Pass’ monthly offerings this year have been somewhat underwhelming. However, this may all change with the potential arrival of exciting news on June 11.
June 11 Could Mark a Monumental Day for Xbox Game Pass
Ever since its debut in June 2017, Xbox Game Pass has been a central focus of Xbox’s Summer showcases and other related events. The phrase “Available day-one on Xbox Game Pass” has become synonymous with these showcases, often following or preceding an exciting game reveal. Throughout an hour-long showcase, fans may hear this phrase numerous times, solidifying the value of Xbox Game Pass through repeated brand recognition.
On June 11, Xbox will host its annual games showcase, where it is highly likely that Xbox Game Pass will once again take center stage. Following the disappointing launch of Redfall on Xbox Game Pass, it is expected that Xbox will put even greater emphasis on promoting Game Pass and unveil a plethora of games slated to join the service over the next 12 months. Xbox employed a similar strategy for its previous Summer showcase in 2022, and although some of the showcased Xbox Game Pass titles did not meet their promised release windows, this marketing tactic remains strong, effectively showcasing the immense value of Xbox Game Pass to subscribers.
While the complete lineup for the upcoming Xbox Showcase has not yet been revealed, there are several promising titles that are almost certain to make an appearance. Forza Motorsport is one such title, with a potential 2023 release date announcement at this event. The highly anticipated reboot of Fable is also expected to be teased.
Obsidian’s enigmatic RPG, Avowed, which was first unveiled nearly three years ago, is another likely candidate for Xbox’s June 11 Showcase. The potential inclusion of Lies of P is uncertain, as its release is currently scheduled for August at the earliest. Additionally, Xbox has confirmed that Bethesda’s highly anticipated game, Starfield, will receive its dedicated spotlight immediately following the Xbox Showcase, leaving ample room for other games to shine during the main event.
These four titles alone are likely to please many Xbox Game Pass subscribers, particularly if they receive confirmed release dates. However, some fans may require further announcements to be convinced of the promising lineup ahead for Xbox Game Pass. Last year’s Xbox Showcase featured details on 22 distinct games heading to Xbox Game Pass, and if Xbox aims to rectify the disappointment caused by Redfall, it will need to follow suit this year, if not exceed expectations.
