With projects like Breathe, Ghoomer, Dhoom 4, Housefull 5 in his kitty, Abhishek Bachchan has his hands full with work. But that apparently wouldn’t stop him from exploring a career in politics. Reports suggest, the actor will follow in the footsteps of his star parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan and step into politics soon.
Possible Political Affiliation
According to Bharat Samachar, Abhishek Bachchan is likely to join Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party and contest elections from the Allahabad constituency, just like his father Amitabh Bachchan did back in 1984.
Official Confirmation
However, there has been no official announcement either from Abhishek Bachchan or the Samajwadi Party regarding his political aspirations.
Abhishek’s Previous Stance on Politics
During an interview in 2013, Abhishek Bachchan expressed his disinterest in pursuing a political career, stating, “My parents have been into politics, but I don’t see myself doing it. I might take on a politician’s role on screen, but in real life, it’s a big no. I will never get into it.”
Family History in Politics
While Abhishek seems hesitant, his father Amitabh Bachchan briefly entered politics after a successful acting career. However, he resigned in July 1987 following allegations of his involvement in the Bofors scandal. On the other hand, Jaya Bachchan has served as a Member of Parliament, representing the Samajwadi Party in both 2004-2006 and 2012-2018.
