Indian Railways is set to transform Faridabad Railway Station into a world-class facility with an estimated budget of Rs 261.97 crore. The redevelopment initiative aims to enhance the travel experience for rail passengers at one of Haryana’s major stations, which serves as a key transportation hub for trains traveling to and from Delhi.
The Northern Railway, responsible for executing the project, plans to implement substantial upgrades at Faridabad Station, providing passengers with high-quality facilities. The redevelopment blueprint includes the construction of two iconic station buildings with modern architecture on both sides, effectively integrating and serving the adjoining areas.
To enhance efficiency and convenience, the station will adopt a departure and arrival segregation system similar to airports. Additionally, multi-level car parking facilities will be available on both sides of the station, accommodating 250 four-wheelers and 350 two-wheelers.
Passenger amenities will be a priority, with a spacious well-equipped concourse connecting the station buildings. The concourse will house waiting areas, waiting lounges, retiring rooms, a food court, shopping facilities, and other necessary conveniences. Help desks will be installed to assist passengers with ticket bookings, reservations, and other related services.
The station will prioritize accessibility by providing lift and escalator facilities, ensuring it is disabled-friendly. To improve traffic flow, two 12-meter-wide foot over bridges (FOBs) will be constructed. Additionally, the station’s various components, such as multi-level car parks, foot over bridges, and concourses, will be interconnected for seamless movement. Integration with local transport systems will also be facilitated.
The Northern Railway envisions the Faridabad Railway Station as a smart and green building, offering world-class amenities. The project has already obtained approvals for the master plan, circulation plan, station building plan, and the construction of the north foot over bridge and multi-level car park.
Significant progress has already been made, with the dismantling of railway quarters completed and the relocation of offices from the existing station building to temporary facilities underway.
