Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – In a disturbing incident, a female police constable stationed at Shivkuti police station in Prayagraj has accused Imran Khan, the brother of IPL cricket player Mohsin Khan, of engaging in love jihad and his brother of rape. The constable alleges that Imran Khan deceived her by falsely claiming to have adopted Buddhism, only to later pressure her into converting to Islam. She further accuses Imran Khan’s father, Multan Khan, and brother, Mohsin Khan, of coercing her into having sexual relations with them.
Mohsin Khan is an Indian fast bowler who represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket and plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
The victim, hailing from Varanasi, has released a video message pleading for assistance from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the message, she reveals that when she initially approached the police with her complaint against her husband Imran Khan and his family, they were hesitant to register the case. Although a case was eventually filed against Imran Khan on February 23, 2023, the stringent sections of the SC/ST (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Act were not invoked against him. The victim also alleges that due to Mohsin Khan’s fame and influence, his and his father’s names were excluded from the FIR.
Recounting her ordeal, the victim discloses that she met Imran Khan in 2016 during police training in Moradabad. Imran Khan, who was also a police officer, ensnared her in a love affair. In 2018, they got married under the Special Marriage Act after Imran Khan purportedly converted to Buddhism. However, following their marriage, Imran began pressuring her to convert to Islam and even changed her name forcefully to Zaira Banu.
“Imran deceitfully converted to Buddhism to trap me, and his entire family is complicit in this conspiracy. Despite claiming to be a Buddhist, he continued to visit mosques for prayer. He even took me to mosques in Ajmer and Barabanki. In 2019, during an event at Imran’s house, his brother Mohsin Khan raped me at night,” the victim revealed. She further stated that she has a three-year-old child, whom Imran attempted to forcibly circumcise, an act she vehemently opposed.
The woman also disclosed that Imran lied to her about his first marriage. To deceive her, he presented an affidavit stating that he had divorced his first wife, but he continued to live with her. “I have provided all the evidence related to this case to the investigator. However, no one at the police station is willing to listen to me. I feel helpless and contemplate ending my life,” she expressed, adding that she had previously attempted suicide on a railway track but was saved by a friend.
ACP Shivkuti Rajesh Yadav described the case as a dispute between the couple and pointed out technical flaws due to Imran Khan’s previous marriage. He stated that the police would decide on the next course of action once the investigation is completed.
DCP Deepak Bhukar has also taken note of the matter and urged the victim to present her case to the police. He assured her that her testimony would be considered during the investigation.
Love jihad or grooming jihad cases have been reported regularly across the country. These cases involve Hindu girls being deceived into relationships by Muslim men posing as Hindus. Tragically, many of these girls have been brutally murdered when they refused to convert or rejected the advances. OpIndia has extensively covered grooming jihad cases over the years.
