In a disturbing incident of “love jihad” in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, a Muslim youth named Mohammad Alim deceived a Hindu girl by adopting a false identity as Anand and wearing a sacred thread known as kalava. The accused and the victim attended the same computer classes, and after ensnaring her in his trap of love, Alim raped her, coerced her into undergoing an abortion, and subjected her to threats. The victim filed a complaint, prompting the police to launch an investigation into the matter.
According to the victim’s statement, she resided in the Deoranian police station area and attended computer coaching classes. It was during these classes that a resident of Jadopur, introducing himself as Anand, caught her attention. He wore a kalava, and they quickly developed a friendship.
Under the guise of Anand, the accused Alim promised to marry the victim. On March 13, 2022, he took her to the Radha Swami Temple in Bareilly and applied vermilion (sindoor) on her forehead, symbolizing marriage. Subsequently, the accused took the victim to his friend Taleem’s house, where he engaged in a sexual relationship with her and recorded explicit pictures and videos. Threatening to share these obscene materials on social media, Alim repeatedly raped the victim at Rajrani Hotel, located near 100 Futa Road. Meanwhile, the victim became pregnant and informed the accused, but Alim showed no remorse and continued to abuse her sexually.

In her complaint, the victim discovered that the person she knew as Anand was actually Mohammad Alim, son of Mohammad Sabir, when she visited Alim’s residence in Jadpur. She also revealed that Alim’s family members instructed him to force her to undergo an abortion, convert her to Islam, and perform a nikah (Islamic marriage) with her. Consequently, Alim compelled the victim to take abortion pills, resulting in her deteriorating health. Eventually, he took her to a nursing home where the abortion procedure was carried out.
Furthermore, the victim alleged that Mohammad Alim threatened to harm her and her family if she disclosed his crimes to anyone. Fearing for her safety, she approached the Deoranian police station and lodged a complaint against the accused. The police have registered a case against Mohammad Alim under relevant sections and initiated a thorough investigation.
This shocking incident highlights the need for swift action and justice to protect victims and prevent such heinous acts in the future.
