The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has reportedly issued a new age rating for Red Dead Redemption, hinting at an imminent release for consoles and PC. Journalist Zack Zwiezen, writing for Kotaku, has also supported this claim, revealing that the project had been put on hold until recently.

Post-GTA Trilogy Debacle Puts Red Dead Remaster Plans on Hold

According to Zack Zwiezen’s tweet, plans for a Red Dead Redemption 1 remaster or remake had been in motion but were shelved following the negative reception of the GTA Trilogy. However, Zwiezen stated that the remaster was not abandoned, only temporarily paused until after the launch of GTA 6. This information provides hope that fans will still get to experience the revamped version of Red Dead Redemption.

Possible Clash between Red Dead Remastered and GTA 6 Release

If the rumors turn out to be true, there is a potential concern that the release of Red Dead Remastered might interfere with the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. The latter is expected to make its debut sometime between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, as revealed during a recent investor call by Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games.

“Fiscal 2025 is a highly anticipated year for our Company,” Take-Two explained. “For the last several years, we have been preparing our business to release an incredibly robust pipeline of projects that we believe will take our company to even greater levels of success.

“In Fiscal 2025, we expect to enter this new era by launching several groundbreaking titles that we believe will set new standards in our industry and enable us to achieve over $8 billion in Net Bookings and over $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow.”
